Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to setup a web site?
The classic answer that web developers give here is "It depends." And, to a certain extent, that's unavoidable. You can't quote a single price for what a web site costs any more than you could quote a single price for what a car costs. However, at GMOTION, it is important to us that we demystify this process a bit. That's why we build the majority of our sites in a modular fashion, beginning most sites with a MySite or ProSite package and building from that base with iFeatures.

If you're just getting started, take a look through our products and solutions page and see which of our solutions might click for you. If there are particular products that you are already interested in, contact our sales staff by email or telephone at (901) 795-1387 and we will be happy to provide you with specific quotes.

How many pages will I need?
Every business has different needs. We will work with you to determine how many pages you need after learning more about your company and goals. We have clients with sites consisting of a single page and others whose sites are over 500 pages. In other instances, we find it more efficient to set up systems that dynamically generate pages using database items. This may sound confusing, but the bottom line is the important thing: we will build as many pages as you need.

Will everyone see my web site the same?
In a world with Windows users, Macintosh users, Linux users, and others viewing web pages with a hundred different versions of Internet Explorer, Netscape, and other browsers on a thousand different kinds of monitors, inevitably, some users will see some things differently than others. At GMOTION, we design sites with that in mind and preview them in several browser types and resolution settings before publishing. Our goal is always to minimize such differences, producing sites that look consistent and work well with the widest possible combinations of technology.

Who actually owns my web site?
You do, naturally. All of the content and design work that you provide to us or buy from us for your site belongs to you. We do, however, use a number of proprietary services in the construction of web sites, that for obvious business reasons must remain under our control, At all times, though, you are the owner of your web site.

Will my web site show in the first listings on the search engines?
We will optimize your site for search engines and list you with the major ones, however getting to the top takes time and often resubmission is necessary.  The process of improving your ranking in search engines is known as "Search Engine Optimization," and to a large extent, it is more of an art than a science. At GMOTION, we focus on the oldest technique there is for attaining high search engine rankings: creatng quality sites.

Can I maintain my web site myself?
You sure can and we are glad to help you learn how. GMOTION prides itself at being at the forefront of content management technology--that is, tools that help you maintain, edit, and add to the content of your websites. Beginning with our basic iEdit™ tool set and extending into advanced PHP-based solutions, we aim at all times to be able to give you as much control as possible over your own web site--while requiring a minimal amount of technical knowhow.

Do I have a say in what my web site looks like?
Definitely!  As a matter of fact we insist on it. Your web site is your image on the web and only you know what is perfect for your company. We will publish your site in progress regularly (at a password-protected construction site, protected against prying eyes) so that you can give us your input throughout the design process.

How will people find my web site?
We will list your site on the major search engines and encourage you to put your world wide web address on everything you can... i.e.: advertisements, business cards, letterhead, checks, fax cover sheets, etc. Building web traffic is largely a matter of building an Internet "brand." We will help you leverage your brick and mortar identity into a recognizable and appealing web brand.

Once we're started, how long will it take to finish my web site?
We hate to say this again, but "It depends." Although cases vary, depending on the demands of the project, our turnaround site on an average, middle-of-the-road site is around six weeks. Simpler sites can be finished in less time--sometimes as little as a day. In other instances, we have worked on extremely complex sites for years at a time.

How can I keep track of the traffic at my web site?
Sites hosted through GMOTION have access to statistics that will tell you how many visitors you have had, what time they visited, what part of the world they are from, how long they spent, which of your pages they viewed, etc. This is a service that is essential to promote and build a successful web site.
